Our hospice visits are tailored to you and your pet; every patient in our hospice program starts with an initial consultation and then receives follow-up visits as needed. At our initial consultation, we’ll work with you to develop a comprehensive hospice plan, which can include help with any or all of the following:
--pain recognition and management
--management of incontinence
--nutritional and dietary therapy
--suggestions for household/environmental modifications
--recommendation of integrative and alternative therapies
Our hospice program is family-centered; much of what we do involves education, guidance and support for you and your family. We will teach you how to assess and monitor your pet’s comfort level and quality of life, and how to perform nursing care at home. We’ll also help you understand what to expect as your pet’s condition progresses. You have an incredibly unique bond with your pet, and our ultimate goal is to nurture that bond up until the very end. Plan for your pet’s initial hospice consultation to last one to two hours; follow-up visits usually last 30 – 45 minutes.
